Pestisect Pest Control

Flea & Tick Extermination Services

The intense itching of flea bites clustered around your ankles, or the terrifying discovery of an engorged tick on your dog after a walk, means a pest has invaded your personal health space.

Because of the unique biological cocooning state of a flea pupa, simply “fogging” or “bombing” a house rarely works. Pestisect uses advanced insect growth regulators to break the flea life cycle at the source and provides targeted outdoor tick barriers for residential yards across Toronto, Brampton, and Mississauga.

Why "Bug Bombs" Don't Work for Fleas

Homeowners desperate to stop the biting often buy aerosol “bug bombs” and set them off in their living room.

The Pupa Shield

The flea life cycle is: Egg -> Larva -> Pupa -> Adult. Fleas in the pupa stage wrap themselves in a hardened, sticky cocoon deep inside your carpet fibers. This cocoon makes them 100% impenetrable to insecticidal foggers. Only the adults die. Two weeks later, the pupae hatch, and the nightmare restarts.

Chemical Fallout

Bug bombs do not penetrate under the couches or beds where the flea larvae actually live; they simply rain pesticide down on your kitchen counters and children's toys indiscriminately.

What is an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR)? An IGR is a type of pesticide that disrupts how insects grow and reproduce. Instead of poisoning the insect directly, it acts as a synthetic hormone that prevents flea larvae from mutating into biting adults, effectively functioning as a long-term birth control for the infestation.

Industry Fast Facts:

  • A single female flea can lay up to 50 eggs per day directly on your pet, which then fall into your carpets and furniture.
  • Ticks do not jump or fly. They climb to the tips of tall grass and wait for a host to brush past them—a behavior known as “questing.”
  • Black-legged (Deer) Ticks, common in Ontario, are the primary vectors for Lyme disease.

Flea Remove Process

The Pestisect Flea Eradication Protocol

We use a highly synchronized treatment approach that requires strict cooperation from the homeowner to succeed.

Pre-Treatment Vacuuming (Your Role)

Before we arrive, you must vacuum all carpets, rugs, and upholstery extensively. The vibration of the heavy vacuum actually tricks the heavily-shielded flea pupae into hatching early, exposing them as vulnerable adult fleas just in time for our treatment.

Dual-Action Aerosol / Liquid Treatment

We use heavy-duty commercial applicators to broadcast treat all carpeted areas and upholstered furniture bases. Our solution contains two distinct chemicals:

  • An Adulticide to instantly kill any live biting fleas.
  • An Insect Growth Regulator (IGR). The IGR permanently stunts the growth of any surviving eggs or larvae so they can never reproduce, crushing the colony collapse curve.

Protect Yard

Tick Control: Protecting the Yard

With the rise of Lyme disease across the Golden Horseshoe, dealing with Black-legged (Deer) Ticks in your backyard is a serious medical priority.

Our Tick Barrier Defense Strategy:

We use high-pressurized misting backpacks to apply targeted granular and liquid treatments to the perimeter of your property, specifically focusing on brush lines, tall grasses, and areas where your manicured lawn meets dense woods.

This creates a chemical barrier that neutralizes hunting ticks before they can migrate onto your lawn where your children and pets play.

Frequently Asked Questions About Fleas & Ticks

Do I have to leave the house during the flea treatment?
Yes. You, your family, and your pets (including cats, dogs, and birds) must leave the home for a minimum of 4 hours while the carpet treatments dry. Once dry, the treatment binds tightly to the fibers and is safe to walk on.
Even if your cat never goes outside, fleas are supreme hitchhikers. You likely walked through tall grass or visited a friend with a dog, and a single fertilized female flea jumped onto your pant leg. Once inside your home, she hops off you and onto your cat to begin laying eggs.
Never burn it or cover it in alcohol, as this causes the tick to regurgitate its stomach contents (and potential Lyme bacteria) into your bloodstream. Use fine-tipped tweezers, grasp the tick as close to your skin as possible, and pull steadily upward without twisting.
