Pestisect Pest Control

Spider Control in Brampton

A common complaint in Brampton’s newer subdivisions is that the house is brand new, but the exterior is already covered in spider webs.

The reason is simple: when agricultural land is cleared for a new subdivision, the natural habitat for millions of insects and spiders is disrupted. The spiders quickly adapt to the new structures. Brampton’s preference for bright exterior pot lighting in soffits creates the perfect hunting ground β€” the lights attract midges and flies from nearby stormwater ponds, and the spiders build webs directly over the lights to catch them.

Inside the home, unfinished basements provide a quiet, undisturbed environment for cellar spiders to multiply rapidly.

Pestisect provides comprehensive spider control for Brampton homeowners. We offer exterior perimeter sprays to keep your home’s facade clean and targeted interior treatments to eliminate spiders in basements and living spaces.

Common spiders

The Common Spiders in Brampton

The Cellar Spider

The Cellar Spider

Found almost exclusively indoors. Very long legs, small body. They build messy, tangled webs in the corners of unfinished basements, stairwells, and garages.

The Orb-Weaver

Found outdoors. These spiders build the large, beautiful, circular webs you often walk into between two bushes or across a walkway. They are generally harmless and great for catching mosquitoes, but become a nuisance when they build across your front door.
The House Spider

The House Spider

Builds the classic “cobweb” in the upper corners of main-floor rooms, behind furniture, and around window frames.
The Yellow Sac Spider

The Yellow Sac Spider

A pale yellow spider that hunts at night. It doesn’t build a web to catch prey; instead, it builds a small silk “sac” in the corner of the ceiling to sleep in during the day.

Note: There are no dangerously venomous spiders native to Brampton. Black Widows and Brown Recluses do not have established populations in the GTA.

Spider attract

Why Brampton Homes Attract Spiders

Stormwater Management Ponds (SWM Ponds)

Almost every new Brampton subdivision (like those in Mount Pleasant or Heritage Heights) has retention ponds. These ponds breed massive amounts of midges and mosquitoes. Spiders build webs on the homes closest to these ponds to take advantage of the unlimited food supply.

Exterior Soffit Lighting

The architectural trend of installing numerous bright pot lights in the front soffit of a home is a magnet for flying insects. Spiders recognize this and will string webs from the brick face to the soffit, completely covering the light fixtures.

Large Decks and Fences

Brampton's large suburban backyards feature extensive wooden fencing and decking. The underside of a low deck and the corners of fence panels provide perfect, sheltered environments for orb-weaver and house spiders to build webs.

Spider control

Our Spider Control Process

We don’t just spray; we clear the webbing first. Our two-step approach ensures your home looks clean and stays spider-free.

Exterior Perimeter Treatment (Spring & Summer)

First, we use an extending web-sweeper brush to physically remove all webs, egg sacs, and live spiders from your eaves, window frames, door frames, porch ceilings, and exterior light fixtures.

Next, we apply a professional-grade residual spray around the perimeter of your home. This includes the foundation line, window and door frames, and under the eaves. This product is micro-encapsulated when a spider walks across a treated surface, the microcapsules stick to its legs, eliminating the spider. The treatment lasts for 60 to 90 days.

2. Interior Treatment (Year-Round)

For interior infestations, we focus on the basement, garage, and main floor perimeters. We sweep down existing webs and apply a targeted crack-and-crevice spray along the baseboards, in corners, and behind heavy storage racks.
We also use discrete glueboard monitors in corners to catch hunting spiders (like Yellow Sac spiders) that don't stay in webs.

prevention tips

Preventative Tips for Brampton Homeowners

Switch to Yellow "Bug Lights

If you have bright white LED or incandescent bulbs in your exterior fixtures, switch them to yellow bug lights. Yellow light is less visible to flying insects. Fewer flying insects = fewer spiders building webs over your lights.

Dehumidify the Basement

Cellar spiders thrive in slightly damp environments. Running a dehumidifier in your Brampton basement makes the environment less hospitable to them and to the smaller insects they eat.

Trim Vegetation

Keep shrubs, bushes, and tree branches trimmed at least two feet away from your home's siding. Plants touching the house act as a bridge for spiders.

spider pattern

Brampton Neighbourhood Spider Patterns

Heritage Heights, Mount Pleasant North: New builds adjacent to agricultural edges and SWM ponds. High exterior spider pressure in the summer months due to the abundance of flying insects. Exterior spray highly recommended.

Heart Lake, Sandringham: Mature neighbourhoods. Proximity to the conservation area brings a wider variety of outdoor spiders (like orb-weavers and wolf spiders) into backyards.

Springdale, Central Brampton: Established homes with older basements. Interior cellar spider complaints are the primary issue here, often requiring focused basement treatments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the products you use safe for my children and pets?
Yes. We use professional products that are highly targeted. Once the residual spray dries on the surface (usually within 30 to 60 minutes), it bonds tightly and is completely safe for children and pets to be around. We will instruct you on exactly how long to keep pets out of the treated area.
No. Spiders are a natural part of the outdoor environment. An exterior perimeter spray provides excellent control for 2 to 3 months. For homes near SWM ponds or conservation areas, we usually recommend two exterior treatments per season (one in late May, one in late July) to keep the exterior clean all summer.
Probably. Wolf spiders are common in Brampton gardens. They are large, hairy, and fast. They do not spin webs; they hunt on the ground. While they look intimidating, they are completely harmless to humans and are excellent at controlling other garden pests.
If they are in your garden bushes, yes, leave them alone. However, spiders that build webs across your front door, over your exterior lights, or take over your basement are considered a nuisance. Our targeted treatments focus on the structure of your home, not the surrounding garden ecology.
